Measure L Passes With a Landslide Vote!

The Copper Firefighters Association came to this community with the request for help in passing Measure L to continue to allow the Copperopolis Fire Protection District to spend the tax dollars collected and held by Calaveras County for operating expenses.

If Measure L had not passed . . . our Paramedic program would have ceased to exist and five paid Firefighters would have been laid off. That was not acceptable to those of us that understand that the nearest ambulance with a Paramedic is 30 minutes or more away.

Our slogan was “Help us help you”. As Association members, we met with groups and organizations that could get the word out and answered questions of individuals so that the voting matter was explained to their satisfaction.

We expected there to be some nay votes and hoped that these folks voting NO were few. What an amazing surprise to see the end results! The community of Copperopolis showed up with an 84% YES vote.

As many of you know the Copper Fire District is made up of paid and volunteer staff. Many of the people that show up for an incident are people like me that are volunteers. Our paycheck is the pat on the back we get once in a while. Yesterday 84% of Copperopolis told us thanks!

I can only tell you what a humbling experience it is to work for this community. Thanks for your caring and support.

A Note Of Thanks. From Steve Marks

I would like to thank our community of Copperopolis for talking time to pass Measure L. Even the folks that voted no, thank you for exercising your right to vote! It's an awesome privilege!

A special thanks to all those people who worked hard to get the basis of Measure L out to the public. Copper Fire will continue to be a progressive dept thanks to the passage of Measure L.

As a director of the Copper Fire Board and a volunteer firefighter for the past 22 years I will continue to work hard for the community. I encourage the public to come by station 1 or 2 and take a tour of the facilities and meet the personnel to see where your tax dollars are going. To see how far Copper Fire has grown over the years is remarkable! Through the guidance and efforts of past, present, and future administrations Copper Fire will continue to serve this great community thanks to you, the people of Copperopolis.
