Statement:

I taught primarily Chemistry and Biochemistry at small liberal arts colleges for 9 years. Since returning to my native California in 2006, I have been very active in my community. I am a volunteer with the Copperopolis Elementary Parent Teacher Club (Treasurer, 2007 & 2008 academic years). I am a volunteer, coach and umpire with Calaveras American Little League (2007-present). I taught part-time as a substitute in high, middle, & elementary school classrooms in Calaveras County for two years. I was fortunate to have attended excellent schools as a child and it is my desire to become a member of the Mark Twain Union Elementary School District Board to help insure that all children of Angels Camp and Copperopolis have the same educational opportunities I had.

If elected I will work tirelessly to better the educational opportunities for our children. Throughout my career I have seen how quality preparation leads to future success. It is imperative that we provide the best education possible for all Angels Camp and Copperopolis children- our children are our future! It is also imperative that the School Board work together as a group dedicated to common goals in order to achieve success. My experiences as a university professor vividly demonstrated the importance of teamwork on a committee- I was on a variety of academic, construction, and budgeting committees, and I can bring that knowledge and experience to the next School Board to help it reach its goals. I am well-organized, work well with others, and will be an excellent team member on the School Board. I will help continue and further the work done by past MTUESD Boards in a positive, team-oriented, and fiscally responsible manner. We need to make the most of our resources. Our children’s future is at stake. Please consider my qualifications and cast your vote for Dewaine Jackson. Thank you.
