COMMUNITY UPDATE FROM

COPPER FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

November 7, 2007

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Nelson to the Copperopolis Fire Protection District Board of Directors.

Mr. Nelson has 14 years of experience in the fire service and is presently employed as a Captain with the San Jose Fire Department. In addition, he has been a paramedic for the past 20 years with a heavy emphasis on teaching and training. Mr. Nelson was instrumental in the development of the Copperopolis Paramedic Program, and served as one of our original paramedics.

Mr. Nelson recently stated to the Board, “I would love to have a chance, along with the other board members and the rest of the Fire Department, to help grow this Department to a place of professionalism, excellence and superb service to the community.”

We have every confidence in Mr. Nelson’s ability to serve as Director, and look forward to working with him.

Best regards,

Board of Directors

COMMUNITY UPDATE FROM

COPPER FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

August 27, 2007

In keeping with our desire to keep you informed, the Copperopolis Fire Protection District Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on what’s been happening within your fire protection organization.

First we would like to thank everyone who joined us for the celebration of Homecoming Day, Emergency Services Day, our 70th anniversary, and the retirement of Chief Powers. It turned out to be a wonderful day and we look forward to next year’s celebration.

Our annual 4th of July celebration drew more visitors than usual do to its public advertisement on copperonline.com. Historically the celebration and fireworks display was a private event for our staff, volunteers, auxiliary and their families, but over the years the fireworks display has attracted more and more visitors who bring their own fireworks for all of us to enjoy. Again, everyone had a wonderful time, especially the kids since they had more sparklers than they could handle.

We will soon be seeking applicants for the position of Engineer, to fill a vacancy created by the promotion of Captain Toney Powers to Fire Chief (effective January 1st). We expect to fill the Engineer position from within effective November 1st

We also appointed a long-range planning committee to conduct a thorough review of internal and external trends affecting the Copperopolis Fire Protection District, and develop strategies that will allow the District to evolve and adapt to changes in the community as a result of planned significant residential and commercial development during the next 10-20 years. Captain Toney Powers will chair the committee and Director John Maness will oversee it and provide guidance as needed.

We’re presently working on finalizing our 2007/2008 operating budget. Our previously approved preliminary budget is in the approximate amount of 1.4 million-dollars, but that figure will likely change during the finalization process. We’ll keep you posted.

This is certainly not all that we’ve been up to, but these are some of the more significant items we’ve recently addressed on your behalf. For those of you who are able, we encourage you to attend our monthly Board meetings held at 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the main fire station on Main Street. Meeting agendas and minutes from previous meetings are available in our business office, also located at the main fire station.

The Board of Directors is dedicated to providing you with the best fire protection services possible, and we welcome and encourage your input. Although we as Directors might not always agree with one another, we work extremely well together and often engage in lengthy discussions before taking action on important issues before the Board. This high level of cooperation, communication, and mutual respect explains why the vast majority of our decisions are unanimous. Feel free to join us anytime. You can also visit our website at www.caltel.com/~cfpd2.

Thanks for your continued support!

Best regards,

Director Walt Ball

Director Barbara Cheney
